Aisha Dossumova, Violinist


Aisha Dossumova of Philadelphia, PA is a prize winner of numerous competitions including 1st prize in the International Violin Competition, "Shabyt", in Astana (Kazakhstan), 2nd prize in the Michelangelo Abbado International Competition in Milan (Italy), 1st prize in the International Violin Competition in San Bartolomeo (Italy), 3rd prize in the National Competition of Kazakhstan, and diplomas in the W.A. Mozart International Competition (Austria) and in the Mravinski International Violin Competition.

Born in Almaty, Kazakhstan, Aisha began studying violin at the age of 5 at the State’s Special Music School. She later continued her studies at the Kazakh National Academy of Music in Astana with Professor Aiman Mussakhodjayeva. Aisha has participated in various international music festivals as a soloist and chamber musician, including Ost-West Musikfest, Mozarteum Summer Academy, Musica in Laguna, the Cliburn Institute, and The International Laureates Festival in Taos and Los Angeles. As a soloist and assistant concertmaster of the Kazakh State Chamber Orchestra, “The Academy of Soloist,” Aisha has toured and performed in many countries including Austria, Italy, France, United Kingdom and Russia. As a member of iPalpiti Chamber Orchestra since 2004, she has performed in Disney Hall in Los Angeles, Kimmel Center in Philadelphia, Carnegie Zankel Hall in New York, Eilat International Festival in Israel, as well as touring in Northern California. Aisha continued her studies at the Meadows School of the Arts in Dallas with Professor Eduard Schmieder, receiving an Artist Certificate Diploma in 2005. She later achieved a Masters Degree from Temple University in Philadelphia in 2008 and a Doctorate, also from Temple, in 2016. Congrats Dr. Dossumova!
